Itinerary
Stop At:
Monte Chacaltaya
Hotel pick up from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. approximately to go straight to Chacaltaya, this is a mountain with an elevation of 5,321 m.a.s.l. Over 80% of Chacaltaya's glacier melted between 1987 and 2007. The glacier was one of the highest glaciers in South America.
When arriving at the refuge, have the chance to walk up to the top of the mountain. Also, see Huayna Potosi and Illimani Mountains; Lake Titicaca and some parts of El Alto city.
Walking up and watching all landscapes last for about one hour and half, after that at 12:00, go down, and get on the bus again to leave for the Moon Valley.
The forces of nature sculpted a strange scene, making Valle de la Luna a fascinating place to go for a walk, especially if you have an interest in geology.
Arrival at 1:30 p.m. to Moon Valley. This valley has a particular rock formation which is similar to the moon`s surface. When in there, see different kinds of trees and plants (local of the area), between them is the cactus San Pedro. The tour lasts for about one hour. The final part there is a viewpoint for taking some amazing pictures.
